Hello again!
This week I will talking about movies and films with motorcycles involved in them. I think everyone has their favourite motorcycle scene when growing up, the first that comes to my mind is Arnold Schwarzenegger chasing a truck while riding a huge Harley Davidson Fat Boy, one handed reloading and shooting a shotgun. (Not one to forget haha).
But there has been many great motorcycle cameos and scenes in a whole range of movies, so lets talk about a few.
Tomorrow never dies (1997) - BMWR1200C: Designed as a nice aesthetic cruiser, James Bond being, well, James Bond uses it in quite the opposite way. How the stunt men got the 236kg of Bavarian cruiser to jump across rooftops and skid underneath the rotors of a tilted helicopter remains a mystery. But it looked great! *Bonus fact* It then featured in the famous spoof, Austin powers Gold member in another high speed chase.
Top Gun (1986) - Kawasaki GPZ900R: You know the bike that Tom Cruise had in Top Gun. Everyone has seen it and everyone loves it. With those aviators in 1986 Tom cruise caused a huge demand of the GPZ900R and it shortly became the fastest produced motorcycle in the world. Apparently they modified it smaller so he didn't look too small while riding? 'I feel the need the need for speed' (Sorry I had to).
The Great Escape (1963) - Triumph TR-6 Trophy 650CC: Arguably the most famous motorcycle scene in cinema. Steve McQueen jumping a barbed wire on a Triumph disguised as a wartime BMW. Its iconic and everyone has seen it, Triumph is still selling steve McQueen Merch today! Steve's riding was too fast for the German stuntmen chasing him, so to solve the problem, Steve doubled for his pursuers as well, effectively chasing himself on camera. Brilliant!
